beginners who are interested in learning music creation using Live as
the medium. Prior musical experience or knowledge of Live or is not
required. Through hands-on exercises students learn Live's various
panes, effects and mixing facilities. By the end of the workshop,
students are familiar enough with Live that they are able to showcase
and perform their songs for their classmates and friends.
This 6-hour intensive workshop covers techniques such as
sequencing, sampling, editing and recording using the MPC 2500. During this session, students learn how to link the MPC to other
modules, sync the MPC to a computer and utilize the onboard effects.
Saving/loading, creating sequences and programs will also be covered.
During the final segment of the course students draw on what they have
learned and use the MPC to edit MIDI and audio to create their own
'beats' and songs.
